The Best In Japanese Manga And Anime

Fullmetal Alchemist is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Hiromu Arakawa, which has spanned numerous animated series, theatrical releases, and live-action adaptations.

As one of the most popular manga publications in history, spawning an equally beloved multi-series anime, Fullmetal Alchemist stands apart as a unique blend of various fantasy elements.

Set in a visually stunning steampunk world primarily styled after the European Industrial Revolution, Fullmetal Alchemist presents a fictional universe where alchemy is a skilled metaphysical art of manipulating matter with natural energy.

Fullmetal Alchemist follows the brothers Edward and Alphonse Elric as they search for the Philosopher’s Stone in an attempt to reclaim their bodies – lost after attempting to resurrect their dead mother.

Also joining the Elrics is a diverse line-up of engaging characters, including Winry Rockbell, Ling Yao, Roy Mustang, Maes Hughes, Riza Hawkeye, and Führer Bradley.

A Multi-Series Anime

The first series of Fullmetal Alchemist concluded with an animated sequel film titled Conqueror of Shamballa in 2005 and was proceeded by a follow-up series - Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood.

The latter Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood differed dramatically from the original 2003 series, adapting the manga directly, with few deviations from the original outlined plot. On the other hand, the initial Fullmetal Alchemist anime series played loose with its source material, crafting an original ending that provided a unique take on this immersive world.

As such, the two series stand leagues apart, providing individual experiences that can be enjoyed back to back or completely separately. The choice is yours!

Alchemy In Live-Action

Experience the world of Fullmetal Alchemist from a whole new dimension as the critically acclaimed manga and anime makes the jump to the medium of live-action film in 2017.
